Flood Inundation in a Tropical Town Street, Early 20th Century
A wall of floodwater surges through the street of a tropical town, submerging roadways and lapping at building facades while onlookers watch from higher ground. Likely capturing the aftermath of a typhoon, hurricane, or tsunami in the early twentieth century, this photograph was preserved among the personal effects of a military officer whose overseas service brought him into contact with the natural and social upheavals of the communities he served alongside.
