Latimer, commander of the U.S. Special Service Squadron, and Brigadier General Logan Feland, commander of the 2nd Marine Brigade, at the Nicaraguan port of Corinto. Both officers played central roles in the U.S. military intervention in Nicaragua during the Second Nicaraguan Campaign (1926-1933), when American naval and Marine forces were deployed to stabilize the country amid civil conflict and the subsequent Sandino rebellion.
