Bottomside, Corregidor Island, 1923. This waterfront barrio at the foot of 'The Rock' served the fishing community and supply operations supporting the U.S. Army's Fort Mills garrison guarding the entrance to Manila Bay. Outrigger boats, or bancas, remained the primary means of local transport and trade throughout the American colonial period. Project: 218703
