Three Officers Meet on Deck: U.S. Army and U.S. Navy Personnel, LST-669, Pacific Theater, February 1945
Three officers meet on the weather deck of a U.S. Navy vessel in the Pacific Theater, February 1945. Identified on the photograph's reverse as Capt. Miller, U.S. Army, 20th Combat Mapping Squadron, shaking hands with Lt. F.W. Cole, Commanding Officer of LST-669, USN, while Executive Officer G.S. Herrington, USNR, looks on. The image reflects the close inter-service cooperation between Army reconnaissance/mapping units and Navy amphibious forces during the closing year of the Pacific War, a period in which vessels such as the submarine USS Charr (SS-328) were likewise conducting active war patrols in the same theater of operations.
