Company Street Lined with Pyramidal Tents at a U.S. Army Training Camp, WWI Era
Row upon row of pyramidal tents line a company street at a U.S. Army training camp, one of dozens of vast tent cities and cantonments erected across the country in 1917-1918 to house the rapidly expanding National Army. Such camps, built to accommodate the millions of men drafted or volunteering for service, were the first stop on the journey to the trenches of the Western Front. Project: 218653
