Such rapid repairs were common at bases like Dagua near Wewak, targets of repeated bombing raids by the 312th Bomb Group and other Allied air units during 1943-1944, and photographs like this were studied by intelligence officers to gauge how quickly the enemy could return an airfield to operation.
