Aerial Strike Photograph - Dagua Airfield Area, Wewak Sector, New Guinea
This vertical aerial photograph, captioned 'Daque, Wewak Area,' documents a bombing strike on the Dagua airfield complex near Wewak, New Guinea -- a key Japanese base targeted repeatedly by Allied air forces, including the 312th Bomb Group, during the New Guinea campaign of 1943-1944. Dozens of crater impressions are visible across the coastal terrain, evidence of the intensity of Allied aerial bombardment against Japanese airfields in the region. Project: 218559
