This aerial photograph captures the rugged mountain terrain of the Wantoat area in New Guinea's interior highlands. Aerial surveys of terrain such as this supported Allied planning for trails, supply routes, and airstrips during the New Guinea campaign, an operational theater for Fifth Air Force units including the 312th Bomb Group.
