Aerial Oblique Reconnaissance Photograph with Archival Labels, Dagua, New Guinea

Mounted and labeled 'DAGUA,' this aerial reconnaissance photograph documents the coastal plantation terrain near the Japanese-held Dagua airfield on New Guinea's Sepik coast. Dagua was one of several enemy airfields in the 'Wewak Group' repeatedly attacked by Fifth Air Force units, including the 312th Bomb Group, during the New Guinea campaign of 1943-1944. The handwritten photo reference number '49-0-62' reflects period cataloging practices for reconnaissance imagery. Project: 218557
