This aerial photograph shows a fortified rocky headland overlooking a harbor and pier in the Philippines, terrain consistent with Corregidor Island in Manila Bay. Corregidor's commanding position and extensive tunnel and gun emplacement network made it a critical objective during the 1945 campaign to recapture the Philippines, and aerial imagery like this supported both bombing missions and the subsequent airborne and amphibious assault to retake the island.
