Strike Photograph: 388th Bomb Squadron Attack on Echague, Luzon, Philippines, 4 May 1945
This restricted-classification strike photograph, stamped '388 B.S. 312 B.G.' and dated 4 May 1945, documents a low-altitude bombing run against the town of Echague on Luzon Island, Philippines. Visible parachute-retarded bombs descend toward the target area as buildings below already show damage from the attack. The 312th Bomb Group's 388th Bomb Squadron flew A-20 Havoc light bombers in support of the Sixth Army's advance across northern Luzon during the liberation of the Philippines in 1945, striking Japanese-held towns, supply points, and troop concentrations at treetop altitude.
