Boeing XF8B-1 Experimental Navy Fighter-Bomber Prototype in Flight
The Boeing XF8B-1, seen here in flight, was an experimental long-range Navy fighter-bomber built in only three examples near the end of World War II. Designed with a powerful contra-rotating propeller and heavy weapons capacity to strike the Japanese home islands, the program was cancelled when the war ended, leaving the XF8B-1 as one of the rarest American combat aircraft prototypes ever flown.
