North American B-25 Mitchell Medium Bomber on Airfield Ramp
The North American B-25 Mitchell was one of the most versatile medium bombers of World War II, serving in every theater of the war. Recognizable by its twin tail fins and glazed, gun-equipped nose, the B-25 gained lasting fame as the aircraft used in the Doolittle Raid on Tokyo in April 1942. This photograph shows a Mitchell parked on an airfield apron, its nose machine guns and dorsal turret visible, awaiting its next mission. Project: 218474
