An American-built version of the British English Electric Canberra, the B-57 entered U.S. Air Force service in 1953 as a tactical bomber and later proved its versatility in photo-reconnaissance, weather reconnaissance, and night intruder missions during the Vietnam War, remaining in front-line and specialized service for over two decades.
