Lockheed C-121/VC-121 Constellation (Serial 0-80608), U.S. Air Force, on Airport Ramp
This photograph shows a U.S. Air Force Lockheed Constellation-family transport, serial 0-80608, distinguished by its triple-tail configuration and graceful, dolphin-shaped fuselage. Originally developed for civilian airline service, the Constellation was adapted by the Air Force for long-range VIP transport, cargo, and, in its EC-121 airborne early warning variant, radar picket duty. These aircraft represented the pinnacle of piston-engine airliner technology before the jet age. Project: 218472
