This photograph shows the North American XB-28 Dragon, an experimental pressurized medium bomber developed for the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. Designed for high-altitude bombing with a pressurized crew compartment -- an advanced feature for its time -- the XB-28 ultimately did not enter production, as the Army Air Forces determined existing bomber types met operational needs. Only two prototypes were built, making surviving photographs of this aircraft historically significant records of American experimental aviation engineering during the war. Project: 218470
