Fairchild C-119 Flying Boxcar, U.S. Air Force, Head-On View on Runway
Facing the camera head-on, this Fairchild C-119 Flying Boxcar shows off its wide wingspan and twin radial engines. Successor to the earlier C-82 Packet, the C-119 became one of the U.S. Air Force's primary tactical airlifters during the 1950s, supporting paratroop drops, cargo resupply, and combat operations in Korea and later Vietnam with its distinctive twin-boom, rear-loading design.
