The North American B-25 Mitchell, seen here banking in flight, was one of the most versatile and widely produced American medium bombers of World War II. Twin-engine, twin-tailed, and armed with forward and flexible machine guns, the B-25 famously launched the daring Doolittle Raid on Tokyo in April 1942 and went on to serve in every theater of the war, from the Pacific island-hopping campaign to the deserts of North Africa and the mountains of Italy.
