The Douglas XB-28 'Dragon' was a high-altitude, pressurized twin-engine bomber prototype developed for the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. Powered by two Wright R-2600 Cyclone radial engines and featuring a distinctive twin-tail configuration with tricycle landing gear, the XB-28 was designed to fly faster and higher than existing medium bombers. Only two prototypes were completed; the design was ultimately not selected for mass production, though one airframe was later modified as the XB-28A for high-altitude photo-reconnaissance testing.
