North American AT-6F Texan Advanced Trainer, Civil Registration N66J, Ramp View
This photograph shows a North American AT-6-series advanced trainer, later registered for civilian use as N66J, parked on an airfield ramp. Originally built as a military advanced trainer used by American and Allied air forces from the late 1930s through the Korean War, the AT-6 (known as the SNJ in Navy service and Harvard in Commonwealth use) taught thousands of pilots the skills needed to transition into fighter aircraft. After military retirement, many surplus airframes, including this one, entered private ownership and continued flying in civilian hands. Project: 218462
