This photograph documents an abandoned German heavy railway gun from the First World War, its armored structure and long barrel left to the elements and overtaken by vegetation. Railway guns of this type allowed the German Army to move massive artillery pieces along rail lines for long-range bombardment, representing some of the largest mobile weapons of the WWI era.
