U.S. Army Ammunition Crate Stockpile, Luzon, Philippines, WWII
This wartime photograph documents a U.S. Army ammunition storage site on Luzon in the Philippines during World War II. Rows of wooden ordnance crates, some containing visible artillery shells, were stockpiled in open-cut revetments to supply frontline units during the 1944-1945 campaign to liberate the islands from Japanese occupation. Such depots were critical nodes in the logistical chain that sustained Allied offensives across the Pacific. Project: 218437
