Rooftop View of Riverside Vietnamese Village, Tet Offensive Era, 1968
Taken from a rooftop vantage point during the 1968 Tet Offensive, this photograph looks out over a river toward a traditional Vietnamese village of thatched dwellings. Such elevated observation points on U.S. military installations and vessels offered both a defensive outlook and a striking view of daily life continuing along Vietnam's waterways amid the turmoil of that pivotal year of the war.
