This photograph from a 1930s USS Maryland photo album shows the battleship's bow resting in a dry dock during a maintenance or overhaul period. Commissioned in 1921, USS Maryland (BB-46) was one of three Colorado-class battleships and served as a key unit of the U.S. Pacific Fleet through World War II, surviving the attack on Pearl Harbor and going on to see extensive combat service in the Pacific Theater.
