American Servicemen Inspecting Captured Japanese Aircraft, China-Burma-India Theater, WWII

American airmen examine the tail section of a captured Japanese aircraft in the China-Burma-India Theater during World War II. The aircraft's disruptive camouflage and Hinomaru insignia are clearly visible. Allied forces regularly recovered abandoned or downed Japanese aircraft during the Burma campaign, using them for technical intelligence and, as seen here, as informal photo subjects for servicemen stationed at forward airfields.
