The Snapshots in Time Collection
USAAF Aerial Reconnaissance Photograph of Moji, Japan, 13 September 1945
This USAAF aerial reconnaissance photograph depicts the Japanese port town of Moji, located on the Kanmon Straits in Kyushu, as photographed on 13 September 1945. Taken from an altitude of roughly 12,800 feet just after Japan's formal surrender, the image documents the harbor's factories, rail yards, and dense urban fabric. It is part of a collection associated with the 345th Bombardment Group, which flew B-25 Mitchell bombers from Ie Shima against targets throughout the Shimonoseki Straits region during the final months of World War II.
