Handwritten Letter, Page 3 - WWII Airman 'Johnny' Describing Bomb Fuse Safety Pins Sent Home (Margaroli Collection, 1944)
Page three of a 1944 letter from a WWII B-24 Liberator belly gunner, signed 'Johnny,' describing bomb-arming safety pins -- one from a nose fuse, one from a tail fuse -- sent home as souvenirs. Such pins, which prevented bombs from arming prematurely before release, were common wartime keepsakes among aircrew. Project: 218355
