This December 1952 San Francisco Examiner clipping reports the loss of a U.S. Navy PBM Mariner patrol bomber off the Korean coast, which claimed the lives of ten flyers including co-pilot Lt. (jg) Wayne Eugene Bancroft of Alameda, California. Preserved within the Bancroft family archive, it documents both the tragedy and the human stories of the young aviators who served during the Korean War. Project: 218289
