The burned wreckage of a downed aircraft, tail numbered '70,' lies scattered across a grassy hillside in the Southwest Pacific. Crash sites such as this, often located deep in rugged jungle terrain, posed enormous recovery and investigation challenges for the ground crews and intelligence officers of the 312th Bomb Group.
