Photographic Documentation of Two Mounted Saturniid Moth Specimens with Measuring Scale
This photograph documents two large saturniid moths, possibly Atlas moths (Attacus atlas) or a closely related species, mounted with wings spread and photographed alongside a ruler for scale. Though preserved within a 312th Bomb Group collection, the image reflects a common wartime pastime: personnel stationed in Pacific and Asian theaters frequently collected and documented the region's unusually large native insect life during off-duty hours.
