American soldiers of the 101st Airborne Division visit the Kehlsteinhaus, known as the 'Eagle's Nest,' at Obersalzberg near Berchtesgaden, Germany, in the closing days of World War II in Europe. Built as a diplomatic reception house for Adolf Hitler, the mountaintop retreat became a symbolic prize for advancing Allied forces in May 1945. Project: 218246
