This photograph, from a 101st Airborne Division wartime collection, shows a captured German Messerschmitt Bf 110 night fighter, its nose bristling with Lichtenstein radar antennas used to hunt Allied bombers after dark. Abandoned German aircraft like this one were common sights for advancing American troops during the final campaigns of the war in Western Europe, and soldiers frequently photographed such captured equipment as souvenirs of the advance.
