Soldier Watering Pack Horses/Mules at Jungle Stream, Southwest Pacific Theater, WWII
Far from the airfields, this photograph documents another side of the Pacific War: the use of pack horses and mules to move supplies through dense jungle terrain where vehicles could not travel. Scenes like this were common throughout the Southwest Pacific campaign, supporting the logistics chain that ultimately kept forward air units, including the 345th Bombardment Group, supplied and operational.
