Surplus North American B-25 Mitchell Converted for Civilian Promotional Tour Use, Registration N1203
A former U.S. Army Air Forces North American B-25 Mitchell, registered N1203, photographed after conversion to civilian use in the postwar era. Thousands of surplus Mitchells were sold to private owners following World War II, many repainted and modified to serve as fast executive transports, aerial survey aircraft, or - as suggested by the painted advertisement on this example's nose - traveling promotional 'flying billboards' for touring companies during the 1940s and 1950s.
