Vultee XP-54 'Swoose Goose' Experimental Pusher Fighter, USAAF Serial 41-1210
The Vultee XP-54, nicknamed 'Swoose Goose,' was one of three radical pusher-engine fighter prototypes built to a 1939 Army Air Corps specification seeking unconventional pursuit designs. Its rear-mounted engine and twin-boom layout were meant to concentrate heavy armament in the nose, but underpowered engines and shifting wartime priorities kept it from ever reaching production. Only two examples, including this one bearing serial 41-1210, were ever built. Project: 218215
