Outdoor Stage at Naval Air Base (NAB), Agana, Guam -- WWII Pacific Base Complex

This photograph shows an open-air stage marked "NAB" -- Naval Air Base -- built to entertain American servicemen stationed at Agana, Guam, following the island's recapture in 1944. Surrounded by rows of Quonset huts, tents, and a crowded motor pool, the stage hosted band concerts, USO shows, and film screenings that boosted morale amid the rapid wartime construction of Pacific island bases. The photograph belongs to a photo album kept by a member of Naval Air Transport Squadron VR-6, which operated from this base. Project: 218206
