Interior of Quonset Hut with Parachute/Gear Packing Tables, Naval Air Station Agana, Guam (VR-6 Squadron Album)

This photograph, from a photo album belonging to a member of Naval Air Transport Squadron VR-6 at Agana, Guam, shows the interior of a Quonset hut equipped with long tables used for packing and inspecting parachutes and flight gear. Quonset huts, with their prefabricated corrugated-steel arched frames, became the standard rapid-construction building of choice for the U.S. military throughout the Pacific during and after World War II, housing everything from barracks to workshops and equipment rooms.
