North American B-25 Mitchell Medium Bomber in Flight Over Water
The North American B-25 Mitchell, seen here banking over open water in an official recognition photograph, became one of the most versatile and widely used medium bombers of World War II. Best remembered for its role in the daring 1942 Doolittle Raid on Tokyo, the B-25 also served extensively in low-level strafing and bombing missions across the Pacific, Mediterranean, and China-Burma-India Theaters.
