The Boeing B-52 Stratofortress, seen here in its original B-52A production version, became one of the most enduring symbols of American strategic airpower. Powered by eight Pratt & Whitney J57 turbojet engines mounted in four underwing pods, the B-52 was designed to carry nuclear and conventional payloads across intercontinental distances.
