Snapshot: Fly-In Fishing and Hunting Camp Hangar Signage with Light Aircraft -- '...el Air Camp'
A personal snapshot from the McAleer photo album depicting the hangar signage of a remote fly-in fishing and hunting camp, advertising access 'by air to virgin fishing and hunting.' Such camps became increasingly common in Alaska and Canada after WWII, as surplus aircraft and experienced pilots opened wilderness areas to sportsmen. The light aircraft fuselage visible beneath the sign, together with two parked bicycles in the foreground, captures an informal moment of postwar recreational travel. Project: 218187
