This atmospheric photograph of a harbor breakwater lighthouse comes from a pre-World War II collection documenting U.S. Navy operations in China during the 1930s. Sailors of the Asiatic Fleet routinely photographed the ports, harbors, and coastal infrastructure of treaty ports such as Shanghai and Tsingtao, leaving behind a rich visual record of interwar naval life in the Far East.
