Lockheed F-80 Shooting Star Jet Fighter 'PN-392' on Airfield Ramp

This photograph shows a Lockheed F-80 Shooting Star, the U.S. Air Force's first operational jet fighter, parked on an airfield ramp. Aircraft of this type served with Far East Air Forces units in Japan during the late 1940s and flew extensively in the opening months of the Korean War. Ground photographs like this one were commonly taken to document individual aircraft and unit equipment during the postwar jet age. Project: 218165
