Ship's Superstructure and Deck, Pacific Transport to Occupied Japan, Post-WWII
This photograph, from a personal album documenting the postwar American occupation of Japan, shows the deck and bridge superstructure of the transport vessel that carried servicemen across the Pacific. Details such as the radio direction-finder loop antenna and open flying bridge are typical of the merchant and troop transports pressed into service moving personnel and supplies to Japan in the months following the end of World War II in 1945.
