Gallery: POST CARD 1919 02 26
In February 1919, Private Willis W. Wagener rode the troop train home from Camp Kendrick through Chicago, mailing a Red Cross canteen card along the way. A hand-tinted view of Sixth Avenue in Emporia, Kansas accompanies it, showing how illustrated postcards carried images of home between soldiers and families in the months after the Armistice.
