Newspaper Obituary Clipping: 'Summerfield Man Killed When Navy Aircraft Crashes' — Rufus Lloyd Mounce, PBM Crash, December 1952
This 1952 newspaper clipping reports the loss of Rufus Lloyd Mounce, a 21-year-old Navy aerographer from Summerfield, North Carolina, killed when his PBM patrol flying boat crashed into the Sea of Japan during the Korean War. Ten of the fourteen crew aboard were killed; four survived. The clipping was preserved by the family as a memorial keepsake. Project: 218150
