The Snapshots in Time Collection
Gallery: POST CARD 1918 12 26
Weeks after the Armistice, Private Willis W. Wagener of the 1st Gas Regiment mailed home a censored postcard from France to his sister in Ceres, California. Paired with a souvenir view of the Avenue des Etats-Unis in Chaumont, headquarters of the American Expeditionary Forces, it captures a soldier's world during the long wait for demobilization.
