345th Bomb Group "Air Apaches" Reunion, Colorado Springs, 1973 -- Air Apache Journal, 1979
This 1979 page from the Air Apache Journal, newsletter of the 345th Bombardment Group Association, documents the group's 1973 reunion in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The 345th, nicknamed the "Air Apaches," flew B-25 Mitchell medium bombers in the Southwest Pacific during WWII, including operations at Ie Shima. Reunion photographs capture aging veterans and their spouses socializing decades after the war, alongside a visit to the U.S. Air Force Academy Cadet Chapel and a welcome banner for the 501st Bomb Squadron, one of the group's four component squadrons.
