Infantry Column on the March, Burma, China-Burma-India Theater, WWII
This image, from the Kotec China-Burma Collection and labeled 'Burma,' shows a column of helmeted infantry marching along a rural road during World War II's China-Burma-India (CBI) Theater campaign. Allied forces, often supported by engineers building and maintaining roads like the Ledo/Stilwell Road, fought a grueling jungle and mountain campaign to keep supply lines to China open. The photograph's damaged negative, with light-leak artifacts, reflects the harsh field conditions under which combat photographers worked. Project: 218092
