Mass Labor Force Constructing Airfield or Roadway, Burma Theater, World War II
Hundreds of local laborers move earth by hand and shoulder-pole basket to grade a wide valley floor, part of the immense manual construction effort behind Allied airfields and supply roads in the Burma theater during World War II. Such large-scale labor mobilization was essential to sustaining air and ground operations in the difficult terrain of the China-Burma-India theater. Project: 218089
