Hill-Tribe Children in Bamboo Stilt House Doorway, China-Burma-India Theater, WWII
Two children look out from the doorway of a traditional bamboo stilt house somewhere along the China-Burma border, circa 1943-1945. Photographs like this one were taken by American servicemen stationed in the China-Burma-India Theater during World War II, who often documented the villages and hill-tribe communities they encountered while supporting the Ledo Road and 'Hump' airlift operations supplying Allied forces in China.
